October 24, 2004 -
Annual Duckboat Show and Waterfowl Festival

The Annual Duckboat Show and Waterfowl Festival will be a little earlier this year. It will be on Sunday, October 24.

We had to get a date that (hopefully) will bring better weather so we can have a greater turnout at the festival. This is our main fund raiser and we have to do whatever we can to assure a nicer day.

Also, if anyone has any information on newspaper ads or websites to get our date posted, please let me know ASAP. Also, if you know any vendors, contact them to see if they will attend the show and let them know it's a week earlier.

Now comes the begging. Please let me know if you will come down to the show to lend a hand. The more people we have, the easier the show gets to run. "Many hands make light work." Even if it's only for an hour, it's relieving someone to get something to eat and use the restroom.
Remember to bring food for our food drive to help feed Long Island's hungry.

Mark Sunday, October 24, on your calendar and see you there.

Sporting Clays

Over the last year we have had four shoots at the Peconic River Sportsmen's Club, and what a Blast they have been. If you have not been to one, do yourself a favor and come to the next one.

It's only $40 ($30 to Peconic Sportsmen's Club and $10 to the SSWA for lunch). You can't beat it. Everyone has a good time shooting and goes home with a full belly.

This is a first come, first serve shoot with a limited number of openings for paid-up members. So you have to get your reservation in early to get a spot.

Remember to bring your gun and shells to shoot and your appetite to eat. Bring your boots for all the B.S. that goes on during and after lunch.

Hopefully, we'll see you at the next shoot (date to be announced).

TUCKERTON SHOW
September 24 & 25

The SSWA will be having a booth at this year's Tuckerton Show in New Jersey. We will also have an ad in the Ocean County Magazine that is available at the show. If you're at the show, stop by and say hello. If you have time to relieve one of us, even better. Either way, stop by and say howdy.

SSWA Dinner?

I'm thinking about organizing an SSWA Dinner this winter. Probably in late January. Please let me know if you are interested in attending a dinner.

I would like to include gun raffles, 50/50s, silent auctions, and other raffles, not to mention good food. (I like good food, doesn't it show.)

Let me know if you are interested, and any thoughts and ideas you may have.

WANTED: Duck and Goose Recipes

We all love to go out hunting and are especially happy when we bag some birds. Now comes the dilemma. Most people don't have any good recipes for cooking duck or goose. I was thinking of creating an SSWA Duck & Goose Cookbook. So send me some of your great recipes and I will see about getting them printed and bound. Please make the recipe as clear and simple as possible. Please give exact measurements, instead of a pinch, handful, or a splash. Also, at our December Christmas party, bring down your cooked recipe for all of us to try. This should be a great way to try new recipes and also if we sell the books, the club might make a few bucks.

Send the recipes to Curt Matzinger, 32 Magro Drive, N. Babylon, NY 11703-3704.
